Follow along the adventures on our blog:  http://shimmer-e.blogspot.com

Shimmer-E will be at the following events:

Mane Event 2012, April 27 - 29, 2012 Red Deer, AB

The Alberta Sidesaddle Association is looking forward to heading back to Red Deer this year to participate in demos aside.  Unfortunately there are no plans to have a booth this year as we just don't have the man power to run it as well as concentrate on the demos.  Amanda is also looking forward to the opportunity of riding with the dressage clinician again this year, application's already in!

Rheinland Pfal Saar International Inspection Tour at Bri-Mel Farm in Okotokes, AB September 21

The RPSI's north american tour continues at Bri-Mel Farm on Wednesday September 21.   Our LaBamba SE will be inspected, registered and branded Zweibrucker at that time.

We had a great time at the inspection!  We are working now on getting an inspection tour date for northern Alberta.  Please check out www.rhpsi.com for details or contact Amanda at shimmere@live.ca for details.

The Trails for Troops Canada-Day Trail Ride July 1, 2011

July 1 at the Edmonton Garrison, the second annual Trails for Troops ride benefiting the Soldier On fund will be held.  It is a 2.5 hour beginner-friendly ride through the grounds with a BBQ lunch to follow.  If you'd like more info on the ride or to make a pledge/contribution, please contact Amanda @ shimmere@live.ca

What a fantastic time at the ride!  Due to poor weather conditions (on previous days) the trail was modified but was enjoyed by all!  The ride helped in part to raise over $2000 for the Soldier On Fund.  Congrats everyone, see you next year!

The Horse Showcase at Fultonvale Arena May 27 - 29, 2011

This is an annual favorite of ours and this year's Showcase is going to be no exception.  They've extended the event to now consume three exciting days with so many new features!  Shimmer-E Equestrian will be involved with the Alberta Sidesaddle Association booth as well as organizing many clinics during the Showcase.  To get involved, contact Amanda or e-mail horseshowcase@hotmail.com

It was very unfortunate that this year's Showcase was severely modified (made horseless) due to the fear of EHV-1.  Thanks to everyone who did come out to support the event, watch the Trainer's Showcase Challenge and shopped at the vendors' booths.  The Alberta Sidesaddle Association had a booth and did a presentation on the evolution of sidesaddles in full habits.  Sunday was still a hit with "Animal Lover's" day, mules, dogs, bunnies and donkeys.  Plans for next year's event are still up in the air but we will keep you posted.

The Mane Event Expo April 30 - May 1, 2011

Red Deer's annual equine experience and trade show will be privy to the debut of the Alberta Sidesaddle Association (Twisted Sisters).  Come and say hi at the booth!

We had a rediculously good time at the Mane Event!  If you've never been, you should really get there!  Riding with Dr. Parra was a fantastic experience, it would only have been made better if his students had been able to hear him!  The ASA booth had incredible feedback and will be making an appearance next year for sure!

2010

Canadian National and Alberta Provincial Pinto Combined 4-in-1 Show.

It was my first trip out with Blue By You owned by Deb Adolphson of Valley View, AB.  He won his first class, Maiden English Pleasure and took top placings in his Novice Horse English Pleasure class.  They were classes of 17+ horses, tough classes!  He tried hard and did his best to keep himself together.  I was very pleased with him so I stopped with the two classes.  It was a fantastic show, good time to catch up with old friends and made lots of new ones.  The girls from Sweet Talk Stables across from us were lots of fun too.  Hope to see you again soon!

Killerney Schooling Dressage Show July 4, 2010

Sam saw a successful return to the dressage ring competing in 3rd level dressage!  After finding out that the EC tests couldn't be used and doing a crash test through the CADORA 3rd level test A, Sam and Amanda came out with a 55.83%.  Not bad for the horse's 4th ever dressage test, first 3rd level test!  The only direction from here is UP!!!
